2nd Conference of the ASDV, Durban 2018

The 2nd African Society of Dermatology and Venereology (ASDV) conference was held in conjunction with the 71st Annual Congress of the Dermatology Society, at the Durban ICC, South Africa from the 30th August - 2nd September 2018.

The ASDV 2018 was the first African Dermatology congress in South Africa and an exciting event with parallel sessions catering for dermatologists in academia, and the private and public sectors.

The mandate of the combined meeting is to advance the specialty of dermatology in Africa, promote the highest standards of clinical practice, disease control programs, collaborative research and influence policy development in the African region.

Delegates from Africa and the rest of the world were excited to attend this meeting, on the east coast of South Africa. Several workshops on vitiligo, dermatopathology, ethnic skin, and hair disorders added an African flavor to the meeting. Practical treatments and updates of skin diseases relevant in daily practice were highlighted: infectious diseases, community dermatology, pediatric dermatology, dermatological surgery, eczema, skin cancers, and aesthetics
